Southwark News

Good afternoon, everyone.

We have had such a positive and successful week of learning in school! It was great to see all of the Comic Relief outfits today in school - some of the jokes shared by the children were hilarious! It really put a smile on our faces! Thank you to everyone who has managed to donate via the website. If you haven't already done so, and are able to give something, please do so here:

As you know, school is now mandatory. It is vital that your child is in school everyday. Having already missed so much school over the past year, it is so important for children to not miss any more school than absolutely necessary. Please do not keep your children off school unless they are very unwell and not able to come in. If your child shows any Covid-19 symptoms, please follow the school procedures, self-isolate and arrange a test for your child.

As you know, in an effort to help parents at this time, I have extended the arrival time by 5 minutes. Therefore, all children must be in school by 9:00am. Despite this, there are still children arriving after this time - this has a negative affect on their education. I will be in contact with the parent's of all children arriving late at school to discuss ways in which we can work together to support your child getting to school on time.

Thank you for your support during the extended morning drop off window. The flow of parents and children is calm and safe which is fantastic to see. Thankfully, the road closure on Park Lane has not presented too many issues for us as a school. Thank you.

The drop off times will remain extended until the Easter break. I will stagger the shortening of this window after Easter like I have done previously so it isn't too big a change, too quickly. More information will be sent out about these times next week.

Please be reminded of the collection times:

Nursery, Reception, Year 1 = 3.00pm – 3.10pm
Year 2 - Year 6 = 3.10pm – 3.20pm

Please make sure you are coming into school promptly at these times. Unfortunately, there are some parents coming in too early and not in their agreed time slot. This adds to congestion on the school site at the end of the school day. If you have siblings in different time slots, please come at the earlier time slot.

I am aware that it can get extremely busy at both the side and back gates. Please make sure you are adhering to social distancing measures and leaving the school site in a calm and orderly way. We advise that parents walk to collect their children as these exits can be extremely congested with cars. If you have to drive, I ask that you park respectfully, following the road markings.

May I also remind parents that only one parent should collect and drop off and they need to socially distance, wear a face covering unless they are exempt, and follow the one-way system.

As always, thanks so much for your ongoing support.

Have a lovely weekend!

Mr Skirton
